Join the world-wide Thinking Day celebration! Learn about Girl Scouts and Guides from all over the world with games, crafts, songs and cookies from other countries! Each girl will receive a fun Thinking Day patch (included in the cost). Any older girls interested in helping can call Katrina Overbeck @ 282-0347.

Pinewood Derby $12.00 per participant Get ready to compete with your one-of-a-kind cars, as trophies will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes overall. Ribbons will be awarded for: most original, best Girl Scout theme, “I tried my best”, and cutest design cars. Once again a snack bar at the event will offer drinks and snacks at an affordable price.
Cost includes car kit, participation trophies, and race patch. Car Kits will be available for pick up from the Girl Scout office after you register for the event. Those not able to pick up their car kits from the office can make arrangements to pick up their car kits at January Service Unit meetings.

Girl Scouts of all ages are invited to come and share their special talents at the Girl Scouts of Niagara County Talent Show. Begin saving your “Works of Art” - there will be an art show in the Theatre Lobby before the event (no fee to enter your “works of art”). Special prizes will be awarded to each and every participant in the Talent Show and Art Show. In Girl Scouting everyone is a winner! Come on

Girl Recognition Dinner $14.00 per person All girls receiving the Gold Award, Silver Award, Bronze Award, and any pins or patches for service are invited to attend the dinner, as well as families and friends. After a delicious dinner, Local politicians, special guests, troop leaders, and staff will present special certificates, pins, patches, and awards to girls of all ages.
Award form packets will be available to troops/Leaders in February through your Service Unit Meetings. Girls Scouts/Leaders must complete the award forms to let the Program Director know which girls are to receive awards. The final paper work is due to the Program Director no later than April 1, 2008 to be recognized at the Recognition Dinner.

Bridging Brownie Fair

$5.00 per girl (includes patch, snacks & beverage)

Junior Girl Scouts and leaders will be on hand to talk about Junior Girl Scouting. Girls will work on requirements for one Junior Badge, as well as learn a new song, game, and activity that can be taken back to their troop. Girls will complete some of the bridging to Junior Girl Scouts steps. We will have an opening and closing ceremony and a break for refreshments.  *This event is for 3rd grade Bridging Brownies only!
Saturday, April 26, 2008 Buffalo Zoo: Animals Try-It and Plants Try-It

The girls will earn two Try-Its: the Animals Try-It and the Plants Try-It.
**Parking is available at the Buffalo Zoo parking lot for a fee of $3.00 per vehicle. Registration cost for this event does not include parking expenses. Participants should enter through the front gates of the Buffalo Zoo, located on Parkside Avenue. Inform the cashier that you are registered for a Scout Badge Program, and you will be directed to the Education Department near the Boehm Gallery (to the left of the Gorilla Habitat).

Saturday, January 26, 2008 Junior Badge Fair $5.00 per registered Girl Scout  

While at the Junior Badge Fair, each girl will have the opportunity to earn 2 different Junior Badges.  Information packets with Badge choices and registration forms will be mailed to all Junior Leaders by the end of October. Additional forms will be available from your Service Unit Director at the November Service Unit Meeting. If you do not receive a form, please call Vicki Smith at 434-6212 ext. 19, and one will be mailed to you.

Have you ever wondered what happens to the animals when everyone has gone for the day and the park has closed? Discover the Buffalo Zoo as the sun goes down through this very special program! Cost includes personalized nighttime and morning tours of the zoo, animal related activities, craft, live animal demonstrations, snacks, and breakfast. Youth Leadership Program NO COST! All materials provided by A.M. Lockport Toastmasters The Youth Leadership Program is an informal exercise in the arts of communication and leadership. The lessons learned in the program are life skills which girls will continue to use throughout your life and career. By participating on this program girls will learn to:
• Overcome the nervousness everyone feels when asked to speak before an audience.
• Organize and present ideas logically and convincingly
• Listen carefully to others’ ideas
• Participate in – and lead – group discussions or meetings
• Give feedback to others in a positive and constructive manner
• Increase self-confidence and have fun while learning by doing

Just Jewelry Interest Project Patch $5.00 per girl (includes Just Jewelry IP Patch) Girls will work with jewelers from local jewelry company, Reeds Jewelers, to earn the Just Jewelry IP Patch. At this event, girls will learn how to design jewelry, learn about the tools jewelers use, and create their own jewelry!

Textile Arts Interest Project Patch Weekend $35.00 per girl (includes Textile Arts IP Patch) Do you see the colors and textures of different fabrics and think of a million things you could do with them? If you are interested in trying out weaving, handwork, or quilting, you may find just the activities you’re looking for here! Whether you want to try something large or small, this IP offers ideas to try from fiber to finish and everything in between! Be prepared for a busy hands-on weekend while learning about the world of textiles and making projects. Each girl will need to bring with her some material (old t-shirts, pillow cases, etc.) and submit her T-shirt size with program registration. The pre-requisites to be completed before the event will be mailed after girls have registered. Please take note of all the dates and times for this program: it will be completed in two sections.
